How to Link Your Releases to Your Artist's Instagram and Facebook Profiles

When your music is used in a Reel, a Story, or the Music sticker, the right artist should get the credit. That only happens when your catalog is linked to the artist's profile on Meta (Instagram and Facebook). This guide shows you how to set that up.

Why a Meta ID matters

Spotify, Apple Music and SoundCloud each identify an artist in their own way. Instagram and Facebook use none of those. They rely on one shared identifier called the Meta ID, sometimes called the Facebook Artist ID.

Once your Meta ID is connected to your releases:

  • Your name and profile appear as the credited artist on Reels that use your tracks.
  • Your music shows up under your artist page in Instagram and Facebook's music library.
  • Plays and usage on Meta platforms are attributed back to you.

Before you start: set up 3 things on Meta

You can find the Meta ID yourself, with no wait for Meta support. But the mapping only works if all three of these are in place:

  1. A Facebook Page, not a personal profile It must be an Artist or Business Page that you manage. Personal Facebook profiles cannot be linked to music.
  2. A professional Instagram account Switch your Instagram to a Business or Creator account. Personal accounts are not eligible.
  3. Instagram and the Facebook Page connected to each other This is not automatic. On your Facebook Page, go to Settings → Instagram → Connect Account, log in with your Instagram details, and approve the connection.

Important: If even one of these is missing, the mapping will fail, even when you have the correct ID.

How to find your Meta ID

After your Page and Instagram account are connected, use either method below.

Option 1: Meta Business Suite

  1. Log in at business.facebook.com.
  2. Go to Settings → Accounts → Pages.
  3. Your ID is the number string under the Page name.

Option 2: From your Facebook Page

  1. Open your Page and click the Page name to open the popup.
  2. Select Transparency and Privacy Policy.
  3. Your Page ID is listed there.

Send the details to SM Sound India

Email us at support@smsoundindia.com with:

  • Artist name
  • Meta ID
  • UPC(s) of the release(s) you want mapped

Our team will apply the mapping for you.

Tip: A Meta ID is just a long number, so a wrong one is hard to spot. Check that the ID belongs to the correct artist's Page before you send it. A wrong ID can credit the wrong profile.

After the mapping is done

Plays and usage of your music on Instagram and Facebook are credited to your claimed Page and profile. This is what shows your artist tag on Reels that use your tracks, on Story music stickers, and in search results inside Instagram and Facebook's music library.

Please note that we do not manage the content of your Instagram or Facebook Page. You or your label still own and run that presence on Meta. Our job is to make sure your catalog is linked to it correctly.
